The History Department of Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, was established in 1992. The History Department was established with the decision taken at the YÖK General Assembly Meeting dated 06.02.1995 and started accepting graduate students as of the 1995-1996 Fall Semester. Since its establishment, it has played essential roles in many cultural events in Tokat and its region and throughout the country and has contributed to such activities. Our main priorities are to recognize and know the works and events related to every period of history, from Ancient History to Modern Turkish and World History, to transfer our rich cultural heritage from the past to the future, and to present these values to our students.
Doctoral education is provided in Medieval History, General Turkish History, Modern History, History of Ottoman Institutions and Civilization, Modern History and History of the Republic of Türkiye.
